Enter Fahrenheit Temperature Here
C = (5/9)*(F-32) *** F = C*(9/5)+32
Converts Fahrenheit to Celsius Temperature
Fill in the information and then click on the button.
Enter the Airport Elevation Here = AE (feet)
Enter Air Pressure at AirPort = 29.45 inches Hg
Enter Out Side Temperature Here = OAT Degrees Celsius
DA = Density Altitude in Feet
Here is the Formula Used:
ISA = 15 - 2*AE*(1/1000) = Temperature Difference = -2 per 1000 Feet
PA = AE + 1000*(29.92 - 29.45) = Pressure Altitude (Difference in Pressure)
DA = PA + 120*(OAT - ISA)
29.92 = Standard Sea-Level Pressure
15 = Standard Celsius Temperature at Sea-Level
Here is the simple way to calculate this:
Take the Airport Elevation = AE
Divide AE by 1000 => 5000/1000 = 5
Now multiply by 2 => 5*2 = 10
Now subtract this from 15 => 15 - 10 = 5
This is your ISA => OAT - ISA = 35 - 5 = 30
=> 120*30 = 3600
Set your altimiter to 29.92 and read your altitude = PA = 5470 feet
=> DA = PA + 3600 => 5470 + 3600 = 9070 feet
Enter Celsius Temperature Here
C = (5/9)*(F-32) *** F = C*(9/5)+32
Converts Celsius to Fahrenheit
